vSphere 4.0 Quick Start Guide

Just received my new reference book “vSphere 4.0 Quick Start Guide”. Put together by some well represented individuals within the VMware community: Bernie Baker, Thomas Bryant, Duncan Epping, Dave Mishchenko, Stuart Radnidge and Alan Renouf.

Usually I read these technical books cover to cover. But this book, as stated above, is more of a reference book for quick lookups & command shortcuts. It’s a pretty tiny book. I was expecting a book a tad bigger, so I will say this is more of your pocket reference books.

It is even smaller than my Linux Phrasebook by Scott Granneman!

My only quick gripe about the book is that the fonts are a tad small. Not a huge problem, just a little nitpick. Compared to my Linux Phrasebook which is only slighly bigger, it uses slightly  bigger fonts. Again, no biggie.

The Main Table of Contents:

  • vCenter
  • Hosts
  • Virtual Machines
  • Networking
  • Storage
  • Security
  • PowerCLI

I’d say this is a follow up to another reference book called: RapidApp’s Quick Start Guide to ESX 3.0

At roughly 240 pages, I’m sure there are great tricks you can learn from this book. At the end of the book they leave you some blank pages for you to write down your own useful notes.

You can purchase this book at Amazon.
